Programming
The programming offered by the Ashford Hollow Foundation is unlike any other. Using the one of a kind facility of the Sculpture Park and the Essex Arts Center, the Ashford Hollow Foundation offers programs for all ages from kindergarten to adult. One of the Foundations most celebrated programs is the relationship with the Boys and Girls Club of Buffalo. Through this program the Foundation works with children throughout the city of Buffalo, many of who are disadvantaged and at risk. The Foundation works in the clubs and also brings the teen youth to the Essex Art Center to work in professional art studios and learn to weld and plasma cut. Aside from teaching art techniques, the Foundation focuses on teaching social skills and incorporating other academic subjects into its lessons. A new addition to the programming is a focus on creative problem solving and leadership skills, which not only help students in their artwork, but also give them invaluable skills for their lives. The culmination of these programs is a yearly gallery show at one of the areas premier galleries. This not only allows the community to see the students work, but also gives the students an important sense of success and ownership of their work.
The Ashford Hollow Foundation offers many other programs including
large-scale collaborative sculptures
, live metal pours, interactive sculpture park tours with schools and community organizations. The Essex Arts Center will also be hosting adult and family programming in the coming months.
