The Essex Arts Center was purchased by the Ashford Hollow Foundation in 1969. Forty years later, the Essex Arts Center is still providing studio, education, exhibition and living space for local artists and students. A former ice house, the center was the early home to Hallwalls, CEPA, Squeaky Wheel and other local arts organization.
